Fernweh Guided Expeditions started with a simple idea: adventure should be shared.

Off-roading and overlanding can feel intimidating. Where do you go? What happens if you get stuck? Do you have the right vehicle, gear, or experience? And if you’re new to this world, how do you even start?

That’s exactly why we created Fernweh Guided Expeditions—we help you experience the thrill of off-grid adventure without the stress of figuring it out on your own.

What Does Fernweh Mean?

Fernweh [feirn – vay] is a German word that means “far-woe”—a deep, aching desire to explore distant places. It’s more than wanderlust. It’s a pull—something in your gut that tells you there’s more out there, beyond the next ridge, beyond the next dirt road. But we also know overlanding isn’t easy.

From canoe camping in the Adirondacks to climbing the Matterhorn—and exploring all 50 states—I’ve spent a lifetime chasing what’s just beyond the map. Fernweh was born from that same pull to explore, connect, and share the ride.

These days, I’m focused on guiding others to step outside their comfort zones and into unforgettable experiences. Whether it’s your first dirt road or your fiftieth, I’m here to help you build confidence, learn new skills, and find meaning in the miles.
