Adventure With Purpose
Trail & Rig Education: Core to Who We Are
Trail & rig education has always been a big part of what we do at Fernweh. It’s not the flashiest thing but helping our community feel more confident with their rigs and the world of overlanding is at the core of who we are.
At the recent GXV Gathering in Wyoming, we shared tips, gear, and trail know-how to give GXV owners real tools they can use on their next adventure. Folks left with more than just good memories; they left with hands-on experience they can put to work out there.
From off-road driving techniques and recovery gear to the ins and outs of your vehicles, to Tread Lightly! Principles, education is stitched into everything we do.

A Look Back – Our First 9 Months
It’s been a whirlwind start for Fernweh Guided Expeditions. Together, we’ve:
- Kicked things off with an epic New Year’s Eve event in Death Valley National Park
- Traveled to Monte Vista, CO for the migration of Sandhill Cranes along with side trips to Zapata Falls and Great Sand Dunes National Park
- Hosted an inspiring Camp-HER Way event in Tennessee — our signature all-women’s adventure

- Joined the first-ever XOVERLAND Ranch Event
- Hit the road for 4 Overland Expos + 2 Adventure Van Expos
- Cooked up too many smash burgers to count
- Handed out loads of free prizes, T-shirts, and swag
- Launched the first Storyteller GXV Gathering in Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming

- Shared stories and laughs at countless meetups across the country
- Adventure With Purpose – Partnered with incredible organizations including Overland Expo Foundation, TreadLightly!, and Wildwood Open Lands Foundation. We’re not just impacting the people who travel with us, we’re leaving a positive mark on the communities we adventure into.
What’s Ahead
We’re just getting started:
- South Dakota Destination Retreat – This week we head to the prairie for our first retreat in partnership with an amazing organization. We’re excited to expand Fernweh beyond expeditions.
- Overland Expo East in Arrington, VA – October 3-5 (stop by and say hi!)
- Exciting trip in Texas to explore Migrating Whooping Cranes & Coastal Adventure
- More “Epic” GXV events in the making with Storyteller Overland
- Camp-HER Way – our signature all-women’s adventure returns in 2026
- Wilderness First Aid Training & Certification – brewing for 2026, giving our community more tools to be prepared on the trail
- Early planning for an expanded 2026 calendar of trips and adventures

Expanding the Fernweh Experience
Fernweh is growing into a multi-channel adventure company, still rooted in expeditions, but evolving to offer more ways to connect, learn, and explore.
Here’s how we’re doing it:
- Destination Retreats → immersive gatherings in remarkable places that combine exploration, great meals, and meaningful conversations (our first one launches next week in South Dakota!)
- Skills Workshops → hands-on training in off-road driving, recovery, wilderness first aid, and more
- Special Events → unique experiences that bring our community together, even for those who don’t own a rig
And just as importantly, we’re continuing to grow through partnerships with nonprofits and foundations like Overland Expo Foundation, TreadLightly!, and Wildwood Open Lands Foundation. These collaborations ensure that every Fernweh experience leaves a lasting impact — not just for our participants, but for the communities and landscapes we adventure into.
