WHAT A SOLD-OUT SEASON TAUGHT US, AND WHERE 2027 IS HEADED.
Our 2026 trips at Fernweh were incredible, and we are so grateful to our community for a sold-out season. But more importantly, we’re grateful for the memories we got to share together.
Our season taught us that bringing people together in incredible destinations runs deeper than cool rigs and views. Through deep conversations and long evenings around the fire, we found that when we come together in the middle of nowhere, we grow closer to the people around us. Every one of our trips had its own blend of connection.

Going into 2027, we are doubling down on the three pillars that have grown so important to us and the Fernweh community: confidence, community, and connection.
Confidence
This isn’t the ripping-through-mud, rock-crawling, vertical-climb kind of confidence. We had our fair share of kicking up dust, but the confidence a Fernweh expedition builds is simpler than that. It’s the confidence to take your rig out more often. To handle a recovery situation safely. To have the right tools on hand when you need them. It comes from being prepared, both practically and mentally.
Community
Have we mentioned we have an incredible community? No? Well, we ABSOLUTELY DO. Getting together as a group, sharing meals, going through the experience together is my favorite part of our trips. I’m a firm believer that experiences are made far greater when they’re shared. I’ve restrained from quoting Into the Wild, but it’s 100% true: adventure is only real when it’s shared.
Connection
Connection brings it all home. Anyone can watch a few YouTube videos on recovery, read a field guide, and travel to incredible places on their own. But combining hands-on recovery on the trail, alongside experts who can speak to the land, while traveling with a like-minded community, is what makes the experience unforgettable.
Fernweh is a German word that means an ache for distant places. What I missed at first when choosing the name is that the ache isn’t just for the places. It’s for the confidence, community, and connection that happen in them.
